Ashwagandha (Withania somnifera) is pleasant tasting warming, spicy and sweet all rolled into one. Ashwagandha is known as an adaptogen - the ability to support the body’s ability to handle stress thereby conserving your valuable energy. This small 1m shrub is native to India, Middle East and Africa where it grows in subtropical regions. The plant root and leaf are most commonly used.

Traditional uses:

  • Nervous system - adrenal burnout, fatigue, exhaustion and anxiety caused by nervous stress. It’s supportive nourishing properties generate nervous repair, relaxation and strength.

  • Immune - chronic depletion, recurrent illness, illness causing exhaustion. Strengthening and supportive.

  • Tonic - uplifting to brain energy, body energy, reproductive, hormone and metabolic weakness. Aids vitality and strength of the endocrine and hormonal organs. Used in post pregnancy fatigue.

As a tincture - Convenient dose - add to water. Dose range is 20 - 50ml per week. Contains 45% alcohol.

As a tea - Enjoy all day to recover your energy when feeling exhausted or overwhelmed or add it to our delicious chai dream tea with milk and honey. Brew for 10 minutes for best extraction.

  • Rhodiola - similar to reduce fatigue, support energy and stress. Rhodiola has a stronger effect on clearing the brain fog.

  • Shatavari - a hormone endocrine tonic herb with a nourishing effect like Withania.

  • Siberian ginseng - both tonic and supportive for stress and endurance.

  • Maca - a gentler tonic with energy and hormone balancing properties.

Cautions:

Avoid during pregnancy, hyperthyroidism, low blood sugar, Solanaceae allergy.
